Meaning

Origin and History

In 1957, Chambersite was first discovered at Barber's Hill salt dome in Texas. After its discovery, its name was given after Chambers County, Texas, US, where it was first discovered. Again in 1971, these minerals were discovered at the Dongshuichang deposit in Jixian, Tianjin, China. It can be found in other places like Mexico, Canada, and Ukraine.

Chambersite mostly occurs in brine residues from extraction wells in salt domes. It has a pseudocubic crystal habit and its crystal occurs in very small sizes. Its cleavage is absent and fracture is subconchoidal to uneven.
