Anatase Mineral – Do you Know This Mineral?

Anatase is a small, isolated and sharply developed crystals and a metastable mineral form of titanium dioxide (TiO2). It is a rare blue or black mineral that is in tetragonal crystalline form. The specimens of these minerals are associated with Quartz.

Anatase symbolizes strength, willpower, clarity, positivity, fortune, and prosperity. It can cleanse away all the negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts.

Let us learn more about Anatase.

Anatase is a tetragonal mineral that is especially used as a white pigment. It is a popular mineral for collectors and it is considered classics in the mineral world. It helps to open up and balance all the chakras of our body. It helps to purify and energize the body, accept any kind of challenge, make the right decisions, feel comfortable in many situations, and attune negativity and pain.

Origin and History

Anatase is a polymorph with the two other minerals - Rutile and Brookite. The word "Anatase" was derived from the Greek word "Anatasis" which means extension. This name was given by René Just Haüy, a French priest and mineralogist, in 1801, referring to its long crystals. It can be found in Italy, Switzerland, Slovakia England, Canada, and China.

Formation Process

Along with rutile and brookite, Anatase is the naturally occurring isomorphic form of titanium dioxide. Anatase can be formed by the dehydration and gradual structural rearrangement of the reactant titanium-oxygen lattice.

The chemical formula of Anatase is TiO2 (Titanium Dioxide). These stones have a hardness of 5.5-6 on the Mohs scale. They have an Adamantine to splendent and metallic luster.

Anatase has no type of its own.
